Well, it has to be really doesn’t it! Being that we have our Back To The Future NYE party just around the corner!
(Which by the way we assume you have got your tickets for!)
Oh yes – it’s Earth Angel by The Drifters. Taken from the incomparable Back To The Future. Little needs to be said about this except that it is one of the finest songs, from one of the finest moments, in one of the finest films OF ALL TIME!!!
Soundtrack of The Week is the oddball surf-punk-pop-rock masterpeice that is Surfin’ Bird by The Trashmen. Yes it was in Family Guy. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees it was one of those, “actually-becoming-more-annoying-than-the-x-factor-song” anti-X-Factor songs, but nevertheless, it was and still is a work of genius…used to it’s utmost brilliance in Stanley Kubrick’s wonder – Full Metal Jacket.
Yes yes. We a bit late picking one this week. But it’s hard man. So many grand songs. Such a mighty honour to bestow upon only one particular melodic meandering.
Trust me, there was blood splattered across the white wash walls in the soundtracks offices.
And then somebody begun humming a tune. I say somebody…but in fact…it seemed to being emminating from inside each of our minds. An etheral hum. A distinct tune. A beautiful tone. The instruments joined the sound. The clarity…clear. The pitch…perfect. Then…the voice crashed in and the faces floated out of the haze, into the foreground. The mist cleared and the magic was remembered. And thus, the decision was made…
It was this.
We owe all our lives to Ted Theodore Logan and Bill S Preston Esquire in some shape or form, I know it. I Just don’t know how I know it.
Hmmm, maybe I should have posted this last week before the nation’s dreams soured in an avalanche of sauerkraut…
But in any case, whilst football and film don’t have an illustrious history together (for every Zidane there’s 10 Mean Machine’s) when they do come together it generally throws up some corkers of Soundtracks.
