Yes ladies and gentleman. Montagues and Capulets. Jets and Sharks. T-Birds and Pink Ladies.

The Soundtrack of The Week award shall be skadoodling off our website and over to our Facebook and Twitter.

Come join us, follow us, and hang off our every word over on one of them. Of course, we shall still be announcing special events here and also throwing out the general occasional musing too.

And remember, you can get up to 50% off the door price by signing up to our mailing list. Also, why not buy your tickets in advance to guarantee your entry.

See you on the chatterbox’s site for this weeks – and every weeks – SOUNDTRACK OF THE WEEK!

Soundtrack of The Week – 25/03/13

So the film was pretty appalling. Then again – what did you expect from a movie featuring Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey?!

However, there is no doubting the pure excellence of Big and Rich’s ‘Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy’

Sometimes a song can be misled into hanging out with the wrong movie crowds. (Damn you Magic Mike!)

It’s Monday.

It’s officially the beginning of the week. Equally depressingly, it is also the end of the weekend.

Therefore – we thought we’d pick a soundtrack that sufficiently encapsulates our mood.

Here is ‘The End’ by The Doors. Taken from Apocolypse Now. Now excuse us while we go and bang our heads against a wall.

Roll on Saturday.

We rarely pick scores as our Soundtrack of The Week winner. Which is strange. Because let’s face it – the bad ones are funny and the good ones are bloody AWESOME!

So we are righting this wrong. Without further ado – may I present to you John Williams’ ‘Theme From Jurassic Park’

God it’s good.

It’s righteous.

It’s awesome!

We do love the Coen’s. We do. We do. We do!

Not content with making some of the finest and unique movies of recent time, they have also honed the Tarantino technique of compiling AWESOME soundtracks.

This is just one example of said brilliance.

Man Of Constant Sorrow by The Soggy Bottom Boys. Taken from O’ Brother Where Art Thou?

Well – we thought about making that Adele monstrosity Soundtrack Of The Week this week, in celebration of her being British and the song winning at the Academy awards. But Skyfall sucks – and so does she.

Congratulations and all – but guuuuuuuh! It’s awful!

If you’re going to award a Bond song an Oscar – really it should be this one. Every year. For ever. And ever.

And ever.

Right – it’s been long enough right? In fact it’s probably been far too long – but here it is…

The Soundtracks of The Week this week is the incomparable, un-stand-still-able, irrefutably astounding ‘You Never Can Tell’ by Chuck Berry.

Yes the true king of Rock N Roll. The man whose name could be a ruddy adjective itself. The legend, the royalty, the wonder who lends his song to one of the generations finest movies and finest soundtracks and ultimately makes this moment one of the reasons behind the very concept of Soundtracks Club.

Thank you Chuck. Thank you Quentin. Thank you John. And Thank you Uma (it’s a rare moment that you thank Uma Thurman for anything so appreciate it!)

Not much needs to be said about this, and if it wasn’t for The Imposter, this would be a cert for the Oscars.

We shall see.

Whatever happens, Searching For Sugarman has the most astonishing soundtrack that we have heard in years!

Rodriguez – Stand up. Take A Bow. Have a medal. Take our kisses. Enjoy our hugs – You are a hero.

We were a bit slow on the uptake here – apologies.

It was Groundhog Day last Saturday! We realised just in time to select this wondrous soundtrack to sign off the night.

Sonny and Cher’s ‘I Got You, Babe’

Insert own repetitive joke here.

Personally, we would’ve asked Clint to play this song for us, rather than that Misty ditty.

Then again, we probably we probably would’ve just put the phone down on her.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

“The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” by Roberta Flack from the frankly terrifying Play Misty For Me.
